How to make creative interim use of an empty downtown department store?

We discussed this question in Germany’s largest creative interim use. In the former Karstadt Sport building next to Hamburg’s main train station, artists and other creatives make use of 8000sqm on 6 floors. For 1,5 years, the “Jupiter” project examined architectural and procedural requirements to make an interim use of this size work. During the Architektursommer, I was able to discuss the project and its capability for sustainable transformation of our city centers together with a panel of change makers.
